Are you looking to start a voice over career? Or maybe you're already established, but wanting to take your business to the next level? Either way being a successful voice over artist isn't just about having talent; it also requires business acumen and key entrepreneurial skills.
To be successful, you need to be able to market yourself effectively and build a strong client base. You also need to be able to manage your time well, since most voice over work is done remotely. And you’ll also need to be comfortable working independently, since most voice over artists are self-employed.
If you have these key entrepreneurial skills and the others I share in this post, you’ll be well on your way to being a successful voice over artist.
1. Get in front of clients with your content
You've finally taken the plunge and started your voice over business. But now what? How do you get clients? In addition to auditioning for jobs, one of the most important things you can do is generate great content to attract potential clients. Content can be in the form of blog posts, social media posts, or even videos. The goal is to allow people to get to know you and your brand while also showcasing your voice and giving potential clients a taste of what you can do.
Once you have some content, it's time to get in front of your followers. Social media is a great way to reach people, so make sure you're active on all the major platforms like LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. Get out there, be authentic and sincere, and start engaging (but NOT in a hard-sell way). With some consistent effort, you'll be well on your way to connecting with future clients!
