Voice actors have a tendency to be camera-shy. I know I was. But over the last year of making video content, I've seen amazing results!
Video content is key. It is everywhere.
I have had in the past year some experience with marketing my services via video. Video content is key. It is everywhere. And to really capitalize on your voice, acting career, and marketing yourself, I think you really have to fully consider video. And I wanna just kind of talk about my experience because, whew, I'm a busy person and I didn't think I had any time whatsoever to do video. And I thought, well, you know what? I seem to be in a good place right now. How can this even help me? Well, let me tell you, in my experience, um -- and I had to get a kick in the butt from a few people saying, go ahead, make those videos. And I thank them. They know who they are. I thank them, uh, for pushing me to do my videos. I now have a series on YouTube called Teachable Moments. I've been doing YouTube shorts for my VO BOSS podcast now, and also YouTube shorts for my Teachable Moments in just shorter format.
And I am amazed at the amount of engagement that I get and the amount of people who come to me and say, oh my God, I watch your videos all the time. Or, oh my God, I, I just, you know, thank you so much for all the tips and tricks you've given. I've gotten so much out of them. Like so many more people have recognized me or that come to me, have made a comment about my videos. And so I know that that is the first, probably the first and foremost way that I'm reaching them these days is through my videos.
I think a lot of it, and it's not even so much about selling my services directly. I'm simply just talking, giving tips, kind of like teachable moments. Here's my experience, here's what I think, here's what I know, and I'm giving back. I consider it to be, you know, giving back to the community that has given me so much. And it's not so much, hey, hire me as a, as a coach or hire me, you know, as a voice actor. It's really just about putting myself out there and showcasing who I am and having people get to know me. And I think that's really the most important thing, is that people want to engage and work with people that they know, like, and trust. Video is probably one of the closest forms of being able to communicate and reach out on a personal level to your potential audience.
So I have found that I've gotten a tremendous amount of engagement and a tremendous amount of work actually, from really being brave and putting myself out there. And I'll tell you, it's not easy, guys. I completely understand. It's hard. It's a lot of work. Creating content is a lot of work. And I have to say that I create content in many forms, right? Video, audio for my VO BOSS, cont uh, uh, my VO BOSS podcast, blogs, I write blogs -- I do a lot. And I, I spend a lot of time creating content. But I have to say that video has probably been one of the most effective, uh, sources of getting me work and getting me out there, getting my brand out there and being recognized.
Guys, I know it's tough. I know it's hard, and you might be shy, but whoo, if I can make time for it and do it, so can you. And I completely, totally believe in you guys. So get out there and get on video. Tell us a little bit about yourself. Entertain us, show us some of those character voices. I'm looking forward to watching you in the future.
