There is a lot of talk about having to have the best gear when you start voiceover. It's all about the sound, right? Well, more important than the mic is you.

That $1000 mic isn't really going to get you work.

I want to dispel a myth. That's out there for a lot of people that just get into the industry. It's all about having the best mic. It's all about having the best, uh, headphones, all about having the best audio interface, whatever, whatever it is.

It's not about the equipment. It all starts with you. And it all starts with your performance and how you can connect to your potential listener for your potential client.

How you can connect in your performance because you could have the best studio in the world. You can have the best microphone in the world, but if you can't connect through your art and through voiceover, That's not going to get you anywhere. Don't worry so much when you're first getting into the business about what microphone should I buy.

I need to have the best and spend thousands of dollars on it. Make sure that you invest your money in really working on your craft and honing the artistry of voiceover so that you can connect with your audience from behind that microphone. And if you do that, it's going to transcend any kind of microphone.

It's going to connect through a $200 microphone through a thousand dollar microphone. So invest your money in your performance, in your artistry, and your acting first and the rest will follow.

I'll see you next week.
